This morning I got to try out my birthday present. For the past 20+ years I’ve been using the New English Translation (NET) as my daily reader. With this new Bible I’ve switched over to the English Standard Version. I’ve been eyeing it for a while as I appreciate its bent towards a more literal translation. For example, the NET tends to “render out” metaphors, whereas the ESV keeps them allowing the reading to “get into the mind of the original writer” a bit more.
