During our time at RECA, I’ve come to appreciate that first day of home school. It follows the first day on campus. The prior day there has been the usual rush and excitement for everyone to get out the door and get to school. That’s followed by the calm of being back at home the next day.
Today Ella and Paige enjoyed their first day of completing their work on our new deck. I caught glimpses of them throughout. They were focused on their assignments yet enjoying being outdoors.
Mid morning, I took a long walk around the neighborhood and talked with my mother on the phone as I walked. By the time I finished, I was drenched in sweat. It wasn’t too hot but definitely humid. I came in and changed clothes before getting back to work.
I had a couple late afternoon calls. In between, I walked down to the pool to join Beth and Lydia. I hadn’t planned on getting in, but it was just too tempting. I ended up joining Beth as we ran/walked back and forth in the shallow end. That always feels easy when you start but ends up being quite the workout.
This evening, Ella and Paige had their dance bootcamp. They’re both dancing in Company this year. So their dance starts this week. Meanwhile, Lydia and I have taken advantage of the quiet house to continue reading the fifth book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix.
